THANK GOD, IT’S MONDAY! — WEEK OF APRIL 17th 2017: When saying thanks is not enough

I have not blogged in nearly two months! Of course Proverbs 19:21 does say, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” That seems to have been the theme of my first quarter of 2017, as the plans I made in January, when I tried to plot my year all went haywire — from one perspective, that is.

I have to be able to blog about the things that happened in the last couple of months. One at a time. For now, I am just eager to express my joy:

For Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord, died to save me from the consequences of my sins, and rose again.

I worship a risen Christ, a living God.

I was reminded as we celebrated Resurrection Sunday at church: For all that God is and all He has done, my expression of faith and gratefulness in earnest prayer and singing may be nice, but makes for an absolutely incomplete response if not accompanied by a life fully surrendered and lived for Him.

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. – 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

May I never lose sight of this purpose.

I’m carrying it now as I start my week.

  1. Hello brother! Glad to hear from you. Maybe you’d like to list the things you’re thankful for as well? I kept a daily journal of such lists during a very dark period of my life; made me extra-sensitive to the ways God was actually at work in both the small and the big things 🙂

  2. “He died for me; do I live for Him?” is the question I’ve been trying to answer since resurrection Sunday to somehow evaluate where I am now in my spiritual journey.

    Clinging to the cross has been a great challenge for me. I must admit that my faith lately is like a candle in the wind – it struggles to stay aflame.

    It always feels good to read about the things you are thankful for!
